The St. Louis Centurions Summer Box Lacrosse Academy is aimed at players of all skill levels looking to improve their overall skills through immersion in the Box game. Canadian players' stick skill level increases rapidly through their exposure to box lacrosse and the increased number of touches on the ball that the game provides. Stick skills, passing, shooting, picking, and off-ball play will all be covered on the offensive side of the ball. Playing defense in box lacrosse is also covered. Defending in box lacrosse will provide the player with increased foot speed, communication skills, loose ball ability, and improved body defense. Goalies will have equipment provided and benefit from a dramatic increase in the number of shots that they will see. Foot speed, anticipation, and reading defenses will all be skills that improve in playing the box game. Additionally, the goalie equipment worn by box players will keep goalies protected while learning these skills.

As noted by the title, the St. Louis Centurions players will be staffing the Academy. The Centurions are a semi-pro box lacrosse team competing in the Continental Indoor Lacrosse League. An expansion team last year, the Centurions made the Final Four and were within one goal of playing for the championship. The Centurions players and staff all have a complete knowledge of both box and field lacrosse to help you improve your overall game.

We'll have two age divisions: Bantams and High School. Bantams are rising 7th, 8th, and 9th grade athletes. They'll be working out on Wednesdays. The High School aged players are rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade athletes. They'll be working out on Thursday nights. Cost for the four day event is $120.00 and will include instruction and a camp t-shirt.

Membership in USBOXLA is mandatory for the event. If you've competed in the Spearhead Lacrosse League in the past year, you'll just need your membership number. If not, you'll need to follow this link ( to register for membership in USBOXLA ($45 membership for 12 months) in order to be insured to participate in the Academy.
